hi
i have a 90 si and have been experiencing intermittent starting problems over the past year--i try to start the car but it won't go, five minutes later it starts after i bang on the distributor.  two mornings ago it would not start at all so i had it towed to a shop and of course, IT STARTED.  i was told years ago by my then regular mechanic that the cap and rotor are the achilles heel in the CRX and that has certainly seemed to be true in the past so i had the shop change it out--i have not had a major tune up in about 5 years.  any ideas?  thanks. get a new distributor, or the coil pack inside. The issue you are having is due to a failing part inside. Next time it doesn't start, try resetting the ECU, or hook and unhook you batt. It might work for a bit but eventually your gonna need a new dizzy.

Agreed. Cap + Rotor. Replace, and you're good.

thanks

i took it to the shop and was told that because my mileage, it was the fuel pump and relay.  the distributor was fixed a few weeks ago but it did not fix the hard start issue.  the fuel pump is not a Honda part because of my F*ck'd finances, and now when i start my car, i can hear the fuel pump kick on... it sounds crappy and when i told the mechanic he told me to wait 300 miles - not sure if thats when the sound is supposed to stop or if that's when i should swap it out again!  sounds like bull to me, should it not work right away?  i would not accept this from a Honda shop so i am taking it back to have it looked at.

i wish i knew about the ECU reset before.  damm.  oh well.
