i just picked up an 88 crx with the 1.5, tried getting it through emissions and failed horribly. my hc's were 758, co at 8.1872 at idle. spec was like 220 hc and 1 co. what can i check on this thing to get it to pass? this is my first crx or honda for that matter so excuse me for not knowing anything about them.

its got the dual point system if that helps,  i've replaced the dis, cap, rotor, plugs, wires, adjusted idle, adjusted valves, t-stat, o2, no codes right now, not sure what else to check. any help would be awesome!

You can change your pvc valve.  Its connected to a vacuum line running from intake manifold to a canister on the back of teh block, should be like an elbow valve.

Also, you can run some guaranteed to pass stuff in ur gas tank then refill and go.  Or you could do it my way and run some ethyl alcohol aka denatured alcohol.  I went a straight week of trying to pass, even converted my mpfi car to dpfi thinking it would run cleaner, it got worse.  So i read about the ethyl alcohol, put a gallon of it to my half tank of gas and passed Wink

be careful running alcohol in your fuel system. alcohol will deteriate your rubber fuel lines. using it to pass emissions is fine but dont think that you can go out and continue to do that without expierencing problems.

it burns better then standard gasoline, which yields higher hp numbers, and the octane rating is higher.
