and if they actually build it, its gonna be ashame to see girls, and more douchebags driving it yelling "I got a CRX!! the car I once bashed people for driving".   I'd rather they just make it for special orders, or for people with proof they owned a crx before.

maybe i'm a little biased, but its gonna kill me to see a stupid girl driving a new CRX, something I can't afford, with their Roxy sticker on the back, and flowers hanging from the mirror....ughhhh

but the new crx, would be the ONLY car I'd ever make a car payment on, and I'd do anything possible to get one.

what is gonna make me cry is to see the new rex next to me at a stop light. the cheerleader driver and her even dumber passenger giggling behind the wheel. the light turns green and we both gun it only to see the new model begin to leave its older brother behind. the dumb bitch never put any money and sure as hell any man hours into the car but she is now a force t be rekoned with in the compact scene because she has a K series with over 240 hp or something. but im sure with all the comforts drivers want now a days the new rex will be a heavy bitch and that takes away from what made the crx so desirable to start

if they were to build a CRX it would be a two door version of the Fit, think of what the new Civic Si looks like but only smaller.

Based on the Fit's numbers it has a 1.5L SOHC VTEC engine putting out 109hp, and weights in at 2471lbs for the Sport model. Sounds very close in numbers to the Si's of later years that we all come to love.

what would be interesting to see is if they develop an engine for a SiR model of the CRX. They could take the Civic Si's engine, 2.0L putting out 197hp. but personally i think that would be too much weight. Something along the lines of a 1.8L would be a perfect fit for the new CRX, they do have a 1.8L SOHC i-VTEC engine available for the Civic Coupe putting out 140hp.

I 2nd that. I'll take a hybrid of the Insight and the civic si, 2 seater, but I KIIIINNNDA want a little backseat just in case.  humina humina... The 1.8 sohc would be the best option so I can still smoke the bseries fags.

you could count them putting in a back seat for the car as they wouldnt want to create any compitetion for the S2000 in the 2-seater market.

it would be nice to see the new CRX on par with the miata in performance

and you wouldnt be worried about B series engines, but catching shit from Civic and RSX owners saying their cars are faster.

There is a civic hatch over in europe that is named an siR I believe.

Silverkorn -
Why bring in a CRX you ask?  Because by the time it would actually make production it would be replacing the Fit or would be brought in with a body style update by that time.

I don't really care if they make a new crx or not.  Just becuase its not going to be the same as the ones we drive.  I don't think your going to see one of the big car manufacturers mass producing a vehicle that does not have a lot of air bags, super structure and what we refer to 'features'(others think of them as required).

Also there is no way a manufacturer is going to produce a car that any of us could afford and say you can only buy it if you own this car.  Manufacturers like Ferrari or Porsche could afford to do this but Honda isn't going to do it with a sub $30k car.

Also if you look at power to weight ratios stock to stock the new SI has the CRX beat.  It might be 1000lbs heavier but its got another 100hp.  Also I don't see honda using the same style suspension as the CRX again anytime soon.  Its just so much more complicated than McPherson and 'takes up more room'.

in order for a company to produce a car without those creature comforts its primary goal is for the car to end up on the track, and finishing in the front. Mazda has been doing it with their Miatas for a long time now. And with car comapnies getting back into the market for 2 seaters (ie. Pontiac Solstice, Saturn Sky, Dodge Demon) its going to become very competitve

These cars are still pretty heavy in the feature catagory and in the suck category.  I think another issue is that when people look at cars they don't look at power to weight.  They look at hp.  Its like you look at a lotus elise and say 'it only has 190hp it can't be an awesome car'  but its only 1984 lbs for the base car.  Thats about 10lbs / hp.  The performance guy is going to understand that concept and will buy the car for that but the 'average joe' won't.  In the end a manufacturer has to be able to sell a 'cheap' version of a car if they are going to sell it at a lower price point.  Example: CRX HF,  Mustang V6's...

Isn't that what the S2000 is/was?  And all of those are convertibles (correct?).  For some reason I don't see Honda making a new CRX to fit in the race car category, there is to much of this make it small semi fast and cheap hitting the market right now.  Now mind you they have the Fit so maybe they would make the CRX something special, but then look at scion and they have 3 (think still only three) of these types of cars and seem to be doing pretty well for themselves.
