Hi all,

I'm a noobie to crx's, I just picked up a stock '90 Crx Dx 16v 1.5L.

The previous owner told me that he messed with the distributor because it "wasn't starting."
Well, I put a new batt. in and vrooom! So who knows... Cool
Now everything is good. It runs & drives but, I keep getting ECU Code "8- TDC Sensor."
What should I check, replace, or do first?

thanks...

well if your throwing a code 8, then that generally means your dizzy is either gone, or gonna go.  Best bet is to find a cheap one cause most crx-ers have them hanging around after swaps and replace it before you take that road trip and your stranded without spark Wink

oh yea, check your wiring/plugs as well.

huh,

sounds like a work around.. but, the dizzy doesn't look too old or beat up. Can't I just adjust it using a timing light to get back to TDC?

doesn't matter if it 'looks' beat up, the internals of it are what's important.

My guess, I'd agree with numbnuts and start working on making sure your dizzy and all the sensors related to it are good...

that being said, just line up the marks on the block and crank pulley and see where your cam mark ends up... if you're out of timing by a little bit, you can tell pretty easily...

Ok...Thanks~

I found cheap dizzy on ebay. Something new that's happened is that the ecu is blink'n a code 4 right now- crank position sensor? I'm sure it's related right? Good thing I got turkey-day off..

Anyway, the real bummer is that I can't get anything higher then 3500 rpm
and all I got to work from is this funky Haynes Honda book.

Hey,

so yesterday I got busy and put in a new dizzy I found off ebay.

When I took off the old dizzy cap there was metal shavings on the bottom and the "teeth" end of the dizzy that goes into the cam shaft was all loose and didn't turn properly.  :werd:

So yeah it was gone...

I put the other dizzy in and wrenched in tight and the crx didn't fire (uh oh) so I went back and checked everything, wrenched everything, etc.... still didn't fire..

So I found a new unused dizzy cap and replaced it with the ebay one (which had metal shavings too) tighened it down, turned the key, and Vroom it went! so.. now I got some power and the check engine light is off.

Thanks Phatwhippin CRX and b16 bomber for the help..

Keep the old one you just took out. Clean it and put it in a safe place. You'll never know when your gonna need parts off it.
