Have any of you ever used one of those 'vaccuum pump brake bleeder kits'?  I borrowed one from a Canadian Tire store and found they dont' work worth a damn.  In the kit it said to just put the little clear piping over the brake nipple.  BUT as soon as you put ANY vaccuum to the brake line you just get air to come around the nipple and into the line and you can't tell if you've got the brake lines bleed fully.  I ended up getting my mom to help me bleed the brakes.  It was ok to get the fluid on the way there but I needed help to double check that I had all the air out.  And even still my brakes still feel kinda spungy right off the very start.

hmn, fancy.


I use an old cup, small tubing and my right foot.

dip the tube in brakefluid and go at it pumping. Of course you know that. There's no need for fancy gadgets.

We ended up doing the pump 5 times and hold, then with a little piece of clear hose on the nipple to see if air is comming out open the nipple slowly and then close it before the pedal hits bottom.  Then repeat.  I'd like to do that for about another 30min if I could to see if there is an air bubble someplace in the line as it was still a little spungy.  Atleast I can lock up both fronts, which I could'nt do before.  The old fluid was DARK DARK brown.  new stuff is perfectly clear.

you should flush all the brakes on all four corners. Add fluid BEFORE it runs out on the reservoir. Keep flushing and adding till you see all clear fluid coming out. Good luck dude.

Yea, the problem is that I did them on Sunday....  and didn't do that.  So Its all new fluid but I'm not sure if its just the lines flexing/ actually rear brakes are working/ or bubble in the line.  I did from front left, rear right, front right rear left.  then had a helper at the end to do the pump pump hold thing.  I shoudl see if I can get a buddy to help me out this weekend and just go through like a cup of fluid on each corner to make sure its all out.  The brakes are prett solid near the bottom but it still feels like I can bottom the pedal out.

as long as the hose is tight on the nipple, and submerged in the cup, you shouldn't need another person. I flushed mine when I switched to teg brakes up front. no probs so far.
