Which ECU should I run on D16a6 turbo, also how do I differentiate between an 88 ECU and say a 90 ECU?

You should run an ecu that will be able to add additional fuel and retard ignition timing while on boost.  In otherwords check out www.hondata.com

if your a DIY'er you could learn how to hack the stock ecu. check out these sites for more info:

www.ecucontrol.com
www.turboedit.org

otherwise i would go with zdyne, as they are more d series, non-vtec
www.zdyne.com

as far as telling the difference between the ECU's
most 88-89 ECU's came with an internal EPROM while most 90-91's came with the external EPROM, which is what you need to be able to use hondata and zdyne and the other DIY things
