hey guys im new to the site and i was wondering if you could drop alittle of that expertise one mee..? im in the market for a stock 88-91 CRX (if anyone in nor cali has one, contact me for the love of god :)), and after i get my car i plan on droping a new engine in it, perhaps a B16a or something, and maybe build it alitle more... any way, right now i think i can only afford the car and the new engine, so anyone got any idea how much the engine should cost?  oh yea and i will be doing all the work myself...
Also, maybe if you think that the b16a is not a good choice, you could show me the light?

personally, I think the b16 is a good choice.. and it should cost around 1000$ US, (can get for less) that's with engine, tranny, and ecu

If you get mounts, go hasport all the way! =)  Highest recommendation!

car - 2500
b16 engine parts - 1500-2000 depending on if you replace parts before the swap (gaskets, timing belt, water pump, etc...)

but since you're in Cali, if you want to stay smog legal its going to cost more in parts cause you'll need a del sol or civic si motor.

an easier swap would be the b18a/b - DOHC non-vtec from an integra ls/rs/gs. more torque, but not quite as fast as the b16. all you have to do is find a motor the same year as your car or newer (ie 91 b18a motor on a 90 crx)

You will still need parts and mounts though since you will be switching to a b-series.  But the B18A is alot cheaper if trying to stay smog legal.

yeah, dont let what i said mislead you...the b18a/b swap is almost identical to the b16 swap in terms of parts and labor, but the b18 can be smogged where the jdm (japanese domestic market) b16 cannot. you can find a usdm (US domestic market b16), but the swap will be harder because there is more wiring and you have to buy the engine and tranny seperatly.

I just wanted to make that clear because I was mildly mislead before my swap and was pissed for a bit because of it.  Now I am happy, But shark bait needs to stop calling my house and hitting on me.  I am tired of it.  Leave me alone.
