I know this a little off topic, I just wanted to rant. I've decided recently that street racing is stupid. You beat a few guys with slower cars, and then someone completely destroys you and you feel like shit. People need to stop building their cars "So it'll be faster then so and sos" and just make it theirs and build it faster then it was before. If someone runs a 16 or 17 one year, and the next they run a 14-15, that's still not amazing but it's a huge improvement compared to what they had the year before. I'm saying this because I'm noticing all these people around here being like "I bet you could beat all the kids at our school. One day my car will be faster." and I'm just like "Ohhh welll". It's annoying to have people like "Wanna race wanna race" so I can risk getting a speeding ticket just so you can prove your 8 cylinder and can beat my modded 4. Basically, people need to just build the car the way they want it. Currently, I'm trying to make it handle a lot better. I wanna a ride I'm gonna be comfortable in and enjoy, not have all the bolts come on from all the power in each gear. Anyway, just a rant. Sorry. :nolisten:

i know what you mean... but then i wouldnt have anything else to spend my money on...
if you built h22 turbo and 25-30 lbs of boost... there aint gonna be NOBODY beating you... not even supercharged zc's vr4, but then again, you wont have anybody worth racing. and i mean in general... i mean you still be faster than a street bike...

Here's an idea; race for yourself. I build my car so it's fast at the race track and fun to drive everywhere else. Sure, it's a blast to humiliate some little shit talker that tells the world a race with your car would be a waste of gas (yes I heard that tonight and took care of it accordingly) but that's not why I build up my car. If I did it for that reason, I'd have a huge wanna-race-wing and stickers up the ass right above my street fighter body kit...

I'll be driving a car that looks, handles AND accelerates like I want it to...
that's what it's about for me...
(and also the reason I hate the term rice... f*ck... I like it, and I never said anybody else should too...)

yeah i think that you should jst build oyur car for oyu! and to me its not that big of a deal that i dont have the fastest car out there and these huge ass v8s can beat me cause well they only go strait and they dont shift and all they do is stomp onthe accelorater... i mean are we driving a sports car or a train! i want something that handles well and has good pick up! not nececerally the fastest thing in the world! but it woudl be nice to have teh fastest car ^^lol

So I have a question you spend alot of money getting a 17 second car to hit 14's which dont get me wrong is a great acomplishment, and then bitch that you lose to a stock V-8? I though the whole point of street racing was building the shit out of your car to beat everyone else? P.s. No the 22psi of turbo would not beat everyone... my buddy has a 1970 big block chevelle with NNNNOOOOSSSSSS and runs 8.9 on street legal tires holding the frong two wheels off the ground half the way. |

This is a true story. It happened to me one night. I guess the kid in the camaro had a "faster" car than his high school buddies. But the funny thing was that everybody thought that I had beat him. So for the longest time I was the guy with the "faster" car. They worshipped me like a god. Me, in my HF? What do you think?....exactly, the kid probably would have handed me my ass. It just goes to show you that you can effectively brainwash people in thinking your car is fast before you even do anything. Morons.....

That is 1 funny story ghostcat! everyone has raced before but I agree that its risky. I wont do it anymore since the fines are huge and I get my license taken away if I'm caught. Most I'll do it race upto the speed limit so I cant get in crap by the cops. I wanna get into autocross though, there more to racing than going in a straight line. |
