ok heres the set-up im gonna hopeful get
B16 with clutch and lightened fly wheel lil ignition stuff wires ect. and im gonna have a fuel rail with a nice regulator. so if i get my rev-hard turbo kit, i dont want crazy numbers or anything but mabey 8-10 psi what kinda stuff should i put on it before the kit for it to be reliable? and will i need to change the timing or have it dyno tuned sence its not alot of boost? what do you guys think of thoes fuel regulators that give more fuel as the boost goes up? r they any good for this kinda set-up? just any suggestions would be great! Thanks

personally i would go with a better engine management then just adding more fuel as boost goes up cause then you leave the timing the same for all the rpm's. i would look into a hondata system as they are "realitivly" cheap as compaired to others and then you can bring it somewhere to have them tune it. as far as dyno tuing goes, if you only have the FMU there really isnt much they can do for you, but if you have something more complicated then i would highly suggest going there and a better tune gives more power and makes the engine run better. oh an i would personally look into getting some 450cc injectors to be on the safe side.

Yeah, your proposed setup is waiting for disaster. 8-10 psi is A LOT on a stock B16, especially not tuned. Not very much is running like 6psi daily.

You need engine management. THat is the lifeline of your motor. You need to retard your timing properly, you need to increase the size of your injectors to properly deliver fuel, and you will need to increase the size of your fuel pump.

As well, a proper engine managment unit is necessary for tuning. Hondata is great as previously mentioned. AEM EMS is another, or go to www.pgmfi.org and start learning how to tune your own computer.

Turbo charging a honda properly is a complicated task, you don't want to throw your money down the drain, and you want it to be reliable.

check out www.homemadeturbo.com and go to the FAQ section to learn more about different methods of engine managment.

You should use one of these methods.

" Best - Standalone Fuel Management/ AEM EMS / Hondata / Zdyne / Accel DFI / Speedpro / TEC II / Motec / Haltech. And I am sure there are others. Most systems cost over 1000 bucks. Larger injectors are used. Fuel/Spark Maps can be changed anyway you want them. Vtec/Nos control whatever these systems do it all! You can run a lot of boost on a stock bottom end with a standalone system, Detonation is not a problem unless you don't know how to tune with them.

Good - Injector Hack, This involves, putting larger injector in your car and using a controller to pulse the injectors slower, by modifying the Map sensor input voltage to the ECU. These setups work great with DSM 450cc injectors. A rising rate regulator (FMU) with a larger inline pump is also another method, these can do pretty well depending on size disc you use in your FMU. When reaching higher levels of boost (I would say over 8psi) I recommend some type of ignition retarding device. The MSD BTM is perfect for this. It backs your timing down as you boost, its adjustable with a knob. Check valves or Missing link will also have to be installed to hide boost from the stock ECU, so it does not throw a check engine light."HMT

Perhaps I am miss understanding what you are calling an fmu. I think you mean a rising rate fuel regulator that works on increasing the fuel pressure by pinching to give a more loaded injector spray.

Forget that method and use one of the other ones above Wink
