FIRST OFF, PRESS THE CAPS LOCK KEY. After your done doing that I would personally keep looking. I prefer the look of the second gen(88-91) better and I also like the fact that its much easier as you said to find support for the 88+. I say wait and get a second gen.

moved....
most of the people you talk to will agree that the 2nd gen, 88-91, crx's look better and so on and so forth. but there are also people who love the 1st gen a lot more. it all comes down to personal preference
but to keep in mind getting parts for a 2nd gen is a lot easier then trying to gets parts for a 1st gen

like they've said. msot prefer second gen. but if you like the first gen its a matter of preference. and if you want to dress it up w/ performance mods and beauty mods or just keep the sleeper look. having a first gen w/ b series is always good :werd:

id say definately pass on the 86. the amount of time you will spend kicking your car for not finding any real solid info or parts will add up.
there are really few places that can give you straight answers about an 86 and its even harder to find aftermarket parts.
i think you would have a funner time with a little bit newer version of the crx (at least the 88 ) especially if its your first rex. you'll be able to learn, do, and understand so much more and be able to talk to many other 88 plus crx owners. i think that maybe later on if you are still interested in the 86 then go for it then when you have a better grasp on the crx.
if you are considering the 86 just because its there and not expensive, just wait and a newer rex will come around.

yea it will cost a lot more.
also in reply to redrex. if you want a light car then pick the 88 hf. lightest year and model. not the 86.
and just because people dont pick hooking up an 86 says a few things about what fun it would be hooking it up. absolutely no one to talk to about shit and no available parts.

first of all a 86 is a whole lot lighter than a 88si. second all ur info needed is on crxresource cause theres tons of cats on there with 1st gens with engine swaps, aftermarket suspensions and anything needed. third its a great looking car. anyway u can do the integra d16 swap, prelude b20 swap, and u can fit a b16. is that not enough engine options?

well if you ever look at a swapped 1G in person you would see just fitting the engine in there is half the work. then you have to do some rewiring to run the B series engines. the aftermarket is huge for a 2G swap and suspension thus meaning super cheap prices and easy to get parts. with a 1G you could be waiting a good amount of time to get parts since they arent a dime a dozen like the 2G's are. can it be done? sure it can but it justs take more work, more money and more time; and mot people dont want to invest that since you can do everything in a 2G that you could in a 1G
