Greetings CRX gods!  Cheesy
Someone killed their CRX and offered me their H&R springs to me for $140.
Anyways I'm pretty sure the springs from an '88 will for my '89, right?
Both are Si's.

But my main question will his KYB shocks fit as well? I know the suspension from the '88 Si is dif '89 because of the PRS. So I'm asking before I commit to something.
Also the guy has parts he wants to sell.

Anyways thanks again for the help!  Cheesy

the springs will swap over without a problem, but the rear shocks will not mount onto your 88 LCA's in the rear. the front will mount up fine, but the rear will not.

you can either buy shocks for the 88 rear suspension, or you can take his LCA's as well and mount them onto your trailing arms, which is probably a lot cheaper to do.

if you want to keep the PRS, than you have to buy 88 shocks for the rear, but if you dont care about the PRS then just grab some LCA's from an 89-91 crx and you wont have any problem bolting them up to your 88 crx.

Actually I have the '89, he's got the '88.
Maybe I'll get just 2 of the shocks (fronts) and the springs if he lets me.

Thanks!  Shocked

oops...i swear i can read at the 3'rd grade level when im awake, i was just tired when i read your post!

see if he'll give you his LCA's as well, the PRS is kind of cool...plus it will mean you can have the four shocks to mount on your car.

Dude told me that his suspension fell off.
I'll try and explain.
He said that the part of the suspension attactched to the frame rotted and snapped off and he said the damage looks bad but that he's pretty much done with the car.
Thats why I dont wanna get more than just the springs and shocks incase theres some unseeable damage.

So when people get shocks for their '88's, they buy front shocks for '89+ and rear shocks for their '88?

I think fronts are all the same, I'm running phatty's 88 si hubs with a 88 civic shocks and springs. As for the rear, grab the shocks. 88's have the passive rear (eyebolt) mount on the LCA as opposed to straddled mount. Maybe you can sweet talk sharky into selling his passive LCA's to you. Hehehe

shit, anyone who wants them can have them, you just have to take the trailing arm with you, or get the bolts off yourself!!! Smiley

Is there any difference b/w the 88 and 89?
I mean will i even notice it?
I only do street driving and have yet to do auto-x (although it would be fun)

As for gettings Sharky's, I'm in Canada (eh?) so I think shipping would kill me a lil too much. I'm a starving student!

Hmn, what do your rear shocks look like? The only things diff on a crx rear suspension are the rear LCA/Shock configuration. Like if your shocks go in to the LCA, that's passive, so if yours look like that, then an 88 should fit.

i never noticed the difference between my 88 dx and 89 si, but i think a lot of that had to do with the wheels, tires and suspension.

the front shocks are identical on 88-91's, the rear shocks and the LCA is different only on the 88's. i dont think you will notice a big difference if you changed to the 88 lca's, but it will be cool and you will have 4 good shocks and springs on your car instead of just the front two. i would do it just for the simplicity of having all four corners the same at the same time.
