I have a set of LS rods and pistons. I have a D16z6, and I was wondering if anyone has bored out a d block to 81mm. What is the biggest you can go? Keeping in mind this is a turbo motor (14b) Wink I really just wanted to use the rods, but figured, boring to 81mm if possible, is cheaper than rebushing the rods to accept the 19mm piston pin.

whats the stock bore on the engine?
if your going to bore it out then it might be a good idea to add sleeves or something to reinforce the walls for boost.

Lemme consult with one of the d series gurus here in cincy on that.  I think I heard him say someone does make sleeve kit for it, dont know how far you can bore it though.

Thanks man, I think it'd be pretty cool to have a 1.8 d series turbo bad boy... talk about a sleeper.

You will crack your stock sleeves if you attempt to overbore that much.  Open deck block, remember?  Why don't you buy a D17A1 short block, and resleeve it?  For the money you will be spending you might as well go DOHC.  And have the benefit of a motor that breathes better up top.

BTW, how is it going to be more sleeper if you pop open your hood and there is a turbo bolted onto the motor?

Well my car is stock on the outside, everyone where I live are a bunch of domestic mofos, and have yet to even see a real import. So it'll be a sleeper, plus, event though I'll have a BOV, no one here knows what the hell that sound is. Just like wiht my buds talon, "is that propane injection"? What is that noise? Is that NAAWWWSSS? No one knows, they'll think my motor is broke.

I think I'm scraping the idea of boring that out and resleeving it, and I'm just gonna rebush the ls rods. Good thing I'm a junior type dood marine mechanic, and I have mechanic friends Smiley

If are trying to make sleeper turbo setup why use a blow off valve instead of a bypass valve?  Oh wait a second I know, you like hearing the "pssshttt" sound.  Don't fool yourself.  You want to be noticed.

I want to be noticed, yeah, but the whole thing is up here, that it is literally all domestics. They all laugh, and poke fun, it will still be a sleeper, well,  enough for me anyways.  It'll be a sleeper till they hear that pssssssssttt... Smiley Then they will know they are in trouble if they know what that sound is. I swear, there is shit all in my area, the most wicked import is a pulsar, with a wing, a huge dual exaust, and a huge ass hood scoop, with no other mods. And people like it. Perhaps, people noticing my car, will begin to influence others.

my little brother thought that was an "air shifter"

Been there done that.   Trust me, it will be hard to stay sleeper if you are turbo.  I remember when I turbo'd my 95 Civic, I stopped by a parts house to pick up something, and the old dude at the counter commented on my intercooler.
