changing a tire could be very hard, so i thought i would post it on the board.
first: find all your supplies, jack, lug wrench, and spare.
second: jack up the car in the appropriate spot. Under the frame and make sure it is not in any other spot that will damage the car.
third: remove the hubcap (if necessary)and use your lug wrench and remove all the lug nuts. Use the star pattern for removal.
forth: remove the old tire from the car and place it aside.
fifth: pick up the new tire and place it in the corect position on the car.
sixth: replace the lugnuts and tighten them down using the star pattern. (and relace the hubcap as necessary)
seventh: lower the jack and put everything away, usually in the trunk. AND YOUR DONE!!!!

My dad taught me to when I change tires, to always be safe, and put the tire you changed under the car, incase someone leans on it, the car will land on the tire, rather than bang up the bottom of the car.  This actually worked.  My dad was doing brakes on my moms car, and my sister leaned on the car, and it fell, but landed on the tire rather than maybe messing the bottom up.  Just an extra suggestion.

If you are swapping rims on, it's faster to jack up the whole front/back end. Jack it up in the middle, and put jackstands under it. Make sure ya use jackstands tho, and that they are set at even heights.

Oh yeah, and I'm a complete moron.

If you're using jackstands, like Phatty said, make sure they are at equal heights.  If the rear is lower and you're opening and closing your door a lot while you work on your car, it won't line up any more.  Not that it's happened to me or anything!

Yeah and for everyone's rims that are alloys you want to keep the bolt pressure at 13-15psi. In other words you have to make sure that the bolt makes 3 clicks at max when you tighten it. Otherwise you will warp the rims in a little time.

Well in all actuality shouldn't your step after removing the hubcaps be to loosen the lugs on the tire before jacking it up?? That's how i've always done it.....should make life a tad bit easier.
