Mounting flush-mount spoilers - And not scratch your paint like me!

Okay. Step 1. Make sure we're on the same page here with spoilers. I am talking about flush-mount SPOILERS. I believe there are only two for a CRX, ones that mount directly onto the back of your car and extend the rear deck. Not.. wings.

Now that we've made sure that's right, go to lowes. Pick up some sheet metal, you can get some alluminum for about 4 bucks. Also pick up some dry wall screws, they don't need to be too long, and a razor blade if you don't have one. Trust me, you don't even wanna start effing around with the brackets that come with these things. You'll just piss yourself off. Next, cut brackets out of the metal in about 1 inch wide, 4-5 inch long sheets. You need two. I'd over-compensate on length just in case since you can always bend them down. Drill one side of the brackets into the spoilers at the ends of where the width of your hatch would be. Just measure the end of your trunk and place the two brackets there. I'd go with two or three screws per side. Now bend the brackets back so they'll face the car and open your trunk. You may need some way to tape down the spoiler to your car while your work or have someone hold the other end up or it will keep slipping. Bend the brackets down against the metal on the inner sides of the hatch and screw the brackets in. When you're done, push all the metal inwards so that you won't scratch the edge of your car when you close the hatch. I did it. New paint job too =(. Now do the same to the other side.

ALIGNMENT:
If it's not properly aligned, you'll need to fool around with it a little. Loosen one side, tighten the other. Since you used alluminum sheet metal it can bend pretty easily so don't worry about that. Just don't screw it up to the point when it'll fly off while you're driving. If you can't get it aligned you may need to remove both ends and spread or close in the places where the brackets mount to the spoiler. That's it.
