OK, there are a few easy, free mods you can perform to squeeze an extra few horses out of your CRX.

Advance Timing
Custom Intake
Hollow Cat
Re-set ECU

ADVANCED TIMING-
Tools needed-Screwdriver, Ruler, Perm. Marker

Looking down on your distributer cap, make a mark running parallell to the windsheild on the right edge of your d. cap. Now make a mark every .75 cm back towards the windsheild. Now undo the 3 screws holding the cap in. Turn the cap, so the original marking is now turned back to the 6th mark. Start your car, take it for a spin. If you hear a "PING" it is too far advanced. Gradually turn it back 1 mark at a time, until you can drive with no "PINGING" I think that 6 marks is +17* BTDC......... I may be wrong, it's been a while since I've read anything on this...

CUSTOM INTAKE
Tools- Wratchet w/socket attachments, screwdriver, dryer hose (2-1/4") about 3 ft long.

First off, remove the factory rubber intake from all mounting points. Then remove your stock airbox. Remove the front bumper cover (screws behind corner lights, wheelwells) so you can remove the stock air box. Next, connect the hose to the intake manifold, clamp it won, and run the hose to where the air box was. Put the bumper back on, boom homemade CAI.

HOLLOW CAT
Tools-WD-40!!!! Socket wrench, hammer, big pipe

Jack the car up, put some jackstands under it. Find where the cat connects at each end. Spray it good w/WD-40. Use the socket wrench to undo the bolts. DO NOT lose the spring bolts...... you need to re-use them. After you get the cat out, go pick a fight with someone. COme back, full of aggression, stick the pipe in the cat, and hammer the shit out of the honeycomb insides. put it back on, tighten the bolts GOOD.... you may notice a bad smel, its normal.

RESET ECU

Remove the - battery connection, leabve it sit for  5 minutes. Then reconnect it,  start the car, let the car sit, do not give it any gas for 5-10 mins. Then go drive around. YOur ECU is reset.

There ya go, the 4 easiest #### things you can do to your car... won't add much HP, but #### what do ya expect for free?

TAKE OFF A/C BELT-
Tools- 14mm wrench, or a razor blade

You can do this one of two ways. The way I did it was to take off the belt without damaging it so I could use it later if needed. There is a 14mm nut that holds the small pulley on the air conditioner. Remove nut, take off pulley washer and belt. Then place the washer and pulley and the nut back in place and there you have it. OR you could just cut the belt off with a razor blade.

a lighter car is always better...
... so heres some free weight reduction.

take out all interior trim/ moulding, pass seat, ICE, carpet, spare/jack, anything you dont need to drive the car

remove any exhaust after the header, might get loud and stinky though but less back pressure is a good thing (and probably not pass emmisions)

with the sound deadening exposed, wait for a colder day, 40-50 degrees farenhiet,  grab a hammer and a chisel, tap at material until it flakes off body, all that material adds up to about seven- ten pounds.

bling bling chrome wheels are heavy as crap, get rid of them, stock 14's with good rubber is easily better than heavy 17's
