VWs are way over priced and believe it or not some are manufactured in Mexico.  Other than that they are alright cars.  They are pretty fun to drive. Maintanance sucks.  I'd rather have an Audi than a VW.  But again its too over priced.  There are just simply better cars for less money out there.    VW has too much pride.  Maybe if they came down on price then I would consider it an option.  As far as speed...if its not VR6 then its shit....but VR6s are fast.  One thing I gotta give it up to VW and Audi is their interiors...stock they look sweet....I want those dark blue guages and radio.

i saw this one article where some shop made a beetle put out 500 hp at the wheels by dropping in a VR6 and adding a TT to it. sure the thing looks like crap but that thing will fucking move

I like the New Corvette Z06.  Great Money/Power Ratio.  VW's are ugly as fuck.  Who said I loved Integras?  I sure didn't.  I'll be getting a 240SX the 97style with the slanted headlights.  And then someday doing the SR20DET Swap but I'm gonna start with minor performance mods then looks then the swap.
