I will try to do something like what is on that yellow car. Just remember this aint no walk in the park, it is extremely hard to make a lip out of foam, but none the less I can definately try.

CRX: I'm inquiring about cf myself @ some companies in my neighbourhood (netherlands & belgium)...

Q: is it hard to get the cf to fold around those objects one makes out of foam??? cause I believe I can do the foam part... but since I haven't had ANY experience yet, whatsoever with cf / other fibers.... just wondering

(yes I'll be practicing on cheaper fiber than cf Wink I may be crazy, but I'm not stupid Cheesy )

another thing you could start working on is a carbon fiber fender. doesnt have to be with the Z3 vents like you see everywhere but just parts to help lighten the car.

another thing i just thought of is a carbon fiber valve cover. i saw it somewhere and they were asking a good amount for that.

I'd like a front lip also but I don't want it in carbon fiber. I want it to look oh natural!
I would love to get an SiR carbon fiber hood that'll use the USDM mounts.
That would be sweet!

On SHO theres a guy who works at some place called Hammerhead Aviation. He's selling CF hoods for the 6G Civic and they look amazing. The "threads" are huge! They even weld in the hood latch so you don't need to use hood pins (which I like that idea) They'll even add in washer nozzles (extra of coarse)
Dude said that if he got about 30 orders he'd do a CRX hood.
Looks amazing...  :hump:

Too bad we don't live anywhere near each other. I could help you mold the foam. I'm the shiznit when it comes to sculpting high density foam. What you need to do is use a blank used for surfboard cores. Its high density and can take a beating. Not to mention it is easier to shape. The next best thing you could do is go down to your local lumber yard and get a 4'x8'x1.5" sheet of insulating polystyrene. It would work for a good mold, plus it is dense enough to cut with a jig saw and it can sand down real smooth. Shit, I might just make a lip mold myself and send it out to you for a blank? I'm pretty sure i can make a whole new front end if I needed too. Might take me awhile but its possible.

If you make a foam mold and send it to me than I will hook ya up with a free CF lip. PM me if you are seriouse because if you can make a mold for a lip that would be awesome.

Rather than PM you on this one, I thought i would bounce this idea off everybody. I have an 89HF. What i need to know is the general shape of the 2nd gen front end is it about the same as far as roundness for all 88-91 rex's? Also does the lip need to have some depth to it, as in, does it need to go all the way back like the front plastic plate that covers the front half of the motor? If the dimensions are the same, then I can just use my car for a template. Next question, what would be an ideal thickness and flare? It would take me an afternoon to crank out a set. Not much more. I might post some pics to see if everybody agrees.

Forgot to put this one in...Are you thinking of one solid piece all the way across? or 2 seperate peices, one on both corners? Because 2 separate peices on the corners will be easy. One solid piece all the way across will take me awhile. Either way It can be done. Just need to know if the front end dimensions are consistant on all 2nd gens.

ghost: we don't have the seperate models like in america around here (Si only), but as fas I know the only difference MIGHT be (dunno if the 'rounding' on the front was changed, or just some other cosmetics) between 88-89 and 90-91 cr-x's ...

and then off course there's the SiR frontend which is definately rounder than the non-SiR... but there won't be many SiR's on this board right? americans I mean...
