Hey guys I was wondering, if say (for example) an Apexi N1 muffler would sound the same as an Apexi N1 STYLE muffler. I'm thinking about getting a "style" muffler, and doing custom piping, but I don't want it to sound like shit. What do you all think?
Thanks,
Goldfingiz

I think thats fine but at the same time when you do custom piping alot of times people do it cheap and leave out a resonator. If you do custom piping buy a resonator/glasspak and have it put on their too. Otherwise you will sound like a pissed off bumble bee and that sucks.

I heard it's better without a resonator because all it does is rob you of power...I guess that's not true?

Hmmm, it honestly does rob you of a little horsepower but at the same time I dont want to be mazingly loud that people here me coming from a mile away. I think its worth it man.

Otherwise you will sound like a pissed off bumble bee and that sucks. FUCKER!!! I say pissed off bumble bee and no one else!!! Ha ha, It is funny though. My car sounds like a pissed off SWARM of bumble bees right now! All I've got is the res. on. No muffler or anything. Fucking Texas roads ripped off $400 of the $600 GReddy catback!!!! If your silencer is big enough and not too big, you won't loose any power actually. Just make sure the inside diameter of the resonator is exactly the same size of the piping your using. No variations here at all. Too big is just as bad as too small. Of course if you don't have a header, a catback isn't going to do you that much good anyway. And the "style" mufflers usually just look like the muffler their faking to be. Just make sure it doesn't have a baffled core and you should be good on power. As far as the sound goes, well, some sound like the real thing, some sound like a Monza tip. Try and get one you've already heard.

i have the dual Tsudo Aggressor muffler with straight 3" tips and no Res. with 2 3/4 pipes. it has this deep sound and the higher the RPM the less sound it makes..wierd...so all i hear is my intake rumblin until i switch gears. but the damn deep sound is freakin loud...when u go in the underpasses, under the bridges, it like echoes and vibrates the whole car and tickels your asss...hahaha....oh BTW i got my Aluminumized Non-rusting pipes done for 55 bones

How much? Where do you live again? I'm seriously thinking of using a different muffler now that I can. Wait, you're in Canada aren't you?!?! damn, that would be a BUTTLOAD of money to ship. But if you seriously want it. E-mail me. lemonrexSi@yahoo.comOr use this CRXPower messenger thing.

It depends on the quality of the knock off. and the quality of the piping being fabricated. If you are trying to make it "sound" and perform the same I would recommend using mandrel bent tubing instead of crush bent tubing. Most mufflershops make custom exhaust out of crush bends (remember class crush bends are bad). If you want mandrel bent piping (pipe that doesn't change in diameter when it bends), you will need to order them from Summit racing, Magnaflow, etc. For all motor get 2 1/4" piping for forced and chemical(NoS) get 3"piping. you will have to cut the sections and need to have access to a tig welder. Oh yeah, get 304 stainless steel tubing, so it doen't rust. :mmkay: Hope this helps! Regards Greg

Misinformation. Stainless steel exhausts built using TIG welder using stainless steel welding rods. If you want to weld on aluminum, you would use aluminum welding rods. :mmkay:
