I'm talking about the noise that occurs when you are in gear, and push your shifter to the left or right, and you get a swooshing light gear meshing noise. Well, that occurs almost all the time now, and I just noticed some oil on the bottom of my tranny. I was wondering, if I am hearing this noise more, that it means that my fluid level has dropped enough that the gears arn't getting quite enough lube and are a little noisy??? Does this make any sense. Does anyone else have this happen?? Or is it just my release bearing becoming worse?? I'm scared, and the last thing I need is to fuck my tranny. Help me!!

I have never had it happen, but it does really sound like the release bearing. I would do an oil change jsut to be safe too.

I had that problem too.  My fluid was low but my mainshaft bearing was also screwed up.  That's a bearing you don't want to have to screw with either.  It's at the bottom of the mainshaft (duh) on the clutch side.  To get to it, you have to really screw around with the gears and take out that whole shaft.  Hopefully it's not your bearing.  When you're replacing your oil, see it any little peices of plastic come out with the oil.  If so, one of the retaining clips from one of the bearings has broken, usually the main shaft bearing.  Good Luck man.

Thanks guys, can someone point me towards how to change the tranny oil. I have never done it myself, and I'm broke and not taking it to a dealership. I don't even know how to check that shit. I guess there is a bolt you take out to check the level???

Yea, I need this information too.  I have a sound when I shift it into third gear.  Let me know, thanks.

Honda trannies don't shift into third well.  I've never been in a Honda that shifted into third as fast as the other gears.  Woops, gotta go
