Well, since I'm getting wheels soon I'm also planning on lowering it before or after.  My friend told me not to get coil overs cause they have a worse ride, but after a little looking into it I think he's wrong.  Is he? And which coil overs are good.  I want something mid-range cost wise.  Soemthing that will hold up but won't put me out more then 150-200 bucks.  I've heard of the ground control ones but are the weapon-r ones any good? If I go with sprigns I'm getting eibach, no questions asked.

Weapon R is suppose to be nice.  Ground Control IS the best, with a close second being skunk 2.

Springs will give you a better ride, much better.  If you are gonna do Coil Overs do shocks at the same time man.

our coil over have the dual spring set-up and they cant be compared to gc's or skunks because they use a single spring.

You can compare them, because it's the same price range, same damn thing....

No disrespect Weapon, but isn't that extra spring there just to keep tension on the main spring so it doesn't rattle when you have it adjusted really low?  I have ridden on all three coilovers, and the Ground Controls are superior.  Ground Control also uses Eibach springs.  Eibach springs are made on a million dollar machine.  Weapon R aren't.    You can feel the difference.

I will recommend Weapon R over GC when Weapon R increases their quality.  Compared to Ground Control, they feel a little cheap.

Just my .02

Can someone give me some advantages to coil overs? I honestly find the idea of adjusting them really kinda pointless if you point springs in the right way and nothing is wrong with the frame.  So far I've decided on the eibach springs pro kit since I'd prefer a nicer ride.

... I get motion sickness in bumpy cars   Wink

You won't have a bumpy ride w/ GCs and adjustable shocks unless you have the suspension slammed and the shocks on the hardest setting.

As long as you don't slam you suspension, you won't blow your shocks.  Just lower your car an inch or so and your stock shocks should hold up fine until you get new shocks. Cheesy

Yeah.  I've decided with springs.  Then I get shocks later.

hey dood i hate to slam you like this, but if you change out your spring rate... no matter how low you go you will wear out your shocks faster. ride height, though a accountable factor, does not dictate solely how fast your shocks wear out. if you have a stock height or even 1 inch lower than stock but the same spring rate your shocks will possibly wear out. if you keep the stock ride height on stock shocks and crank the spring rate up about 200% you will kill your stock shocks in about a week.
as for the weapon r coilovers i'm sorry guys i'd look somewhere else. i've heard stories of the weapon*r coilover kits having spring rates of like 400-450 lbs per inch. that's just insane. i don't know if you can even order that high of a rate in the gc's. and if you can it's like the highest they go.
my expericnce is on two different honda cars. i lowered my 5th gen civic with rsr race springs about 2 1/4 inch on the stock shocks. the shocks were shot about 2 weeks after the install and the car was stolen before i could get aftermarket units. the crx had neuspeed race springs and tokico illuminas. all i have to say is holy crap what a difference. sure it rode tight as hell and shook alot on the rough roads. but it didn't bounce alot at all. infact in some places it rode better than stock.
oh and if you are looking for any kind of increase in lateral g's settinging lowering springs on stock shocks isn't the way to go. it will actually make your car handle worse because the insufficient dampning of the stock shocks. even a slight increase in spring rates will over power your stock shocks and send you to the bump stops when "road variations" are encountered.
hope i've enlightened someone... peace...
