Stock 1st gen B16a it engages @ 4800

Can't forget about the 60% throttle in order to engage vtec part. Not just 4800rpm or more. I can run up to 6k rpm without vtec, prolly even 7k rpms

You sure? I can run it up to 5k at like 20% throttle and it will engage, you just don't hear it nearly as loud. The added air isn't as powerful as 60% + throttle, which is really what changes the pitch of the engine.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong....... :mmkay:

VTEC does not engage unless at a certain percentage throttle. But the second you step on the gas it immidetly engages. Simple as that, Correction made.

No tnecessarily...... you just dont FEEL it, but it's engaged. OF course you won't feel it if you're not on the gas.
That the difference between VTEC and i-VTEC. VTEC operates once you hit a certain RPM level, no matter what. You may not feel it, but it's there.
i-VTEC can determine when you are WOT, and when you are normal driving, and alter the cam timing/VTEC crossover points to maximaize the performance of the engine.
Seriously, I woul dlike to see some factual evidence as per the %%% throttle thing, which I don't think is true......

Prove me wrong, cockmonkey.
Wanna bet 99% of Honda mechanics don't know shit about the PR3, or have never even SEEN, let alone WORKED on a 1st gen b16a?
Honda mechanics wouldn't know the answer to this..... remember, he's asking about a B16a, PR3 ECU......

haha...he said cockmonkey....
now that everyone is shit-talking up their butt crack about vtec...
if you are in neutral and u rev pass 4800, say all the way to 8000, does vtec still engage, even though you are neutral!?! i think it does, but i just want to make myself think i am smarter than what i really am...

Yeah, I'm pretty sure... Reason I say that VTEC is merely RPM activated, and not throttle receptive as well, it because I'll be on the highway, doin 90, barely on the throttle, and I know I'm in VTEC. I can feel it, as well as all the extra gas comsumption. And like I said, I'm pretty sure that's the difference between i-VTEC and s-VTEC (stupid VTEC ), whereas the B16 just crosses over at X rpms, but the K20 (is that the one engine?) crosses over dependant on your throttle perecentage, RPMs, stuff like that.... it KNOWS when/where to crossover.......
