I posted this question on the endyn board but no one responded.  what is the realistic output for a N/A h22a with high compression pistons (11.5-12.0:1), headwork, cams (who makes them), header, exhaust, CAI?  I would think about 215-220 at the wheels, but I don't know.  I was thinking of doing the b20vtec in my rex but that is complicated and expensive.  Putting an h22 in a 5 gen civic is less expensive, less costly, potentially about as fast, and the engine was actually made by Honda (makes me think more reliable).  The h22 doesn't seem to enjoy the same aftermarket as the B series engines, though.  What do you guys think?  Also, you can't use power steering on that swap, have you guys felt the civic power steering rack disconnected (belt off, fluid out)?  How stiff is the steering effort?

there is a pretty decent aftermarket for it....i cant guess as to the power output, but i assume it would be much easier and more powerful than a CRVtec....

power steering? it shouldnt make a big difference if you dont have it...a lot of 4G's dont have it and although the 5G's are heavier, they arent THAT much heavier... otherwise, the cars are fairly similar (so losing PS wouldn't be a biggie IMO)

do you have to ditch power steering with an h22 swap? or are you just asking?

this months  SCC details the swap and you cannot have ps or ac with that setup.

220 at the wheels seems about right. But this is a drag only car. If you value to ability to turn, don't go H22 :) power steering, IMO sucks. My old car had it, and it felt like the car was driving you. In the rex, you're driving te car....

i know, i think a crx would be the only honda i would ever buy outside a type r or maybe a gsr due to cruddy steering feel.  vw far superior to most hondas as far as that goes (too bad they make such shitty shifters).  yeah, i jsut did some research that makes me think a b-series in a crx would be a better a idea for a well rounded car.  oh, well, so much for saving money.

Honestly, go LS-VTEC. It'll get you the torque you need with the high end you want. Full range of power and not heavy at all.

As for VW, ever drive a Scirocco or Corrado? Handles fucking AWESOME! The only hondas that have that true "road course" feel are the:

CRX
ITR
S2000

these being cars in the US excluding the NSX........

I hope this isn't going to be a daily driven car.  If so, it ain't going to be fun for long, especially when turning.

You can't have power steering (no big loss), or A/C (who cares, sweating is good for you) if you do the swap.  I just don't think it's worth it to put such a GIANT engine in such a small car.  Do what you want but I hope you have another car to actually use for street driving.
