What's up everyone? I just bought a '88 si as my commuter car and it seems pretty cool so far. However, I have noticed a couple of things with it, it makes a ticking noise that sounds like its coming from the speedo. area and when I come to a stop it goes away. Also, my radio went out on me when I tried to test the cig. lighter. I checked and the cig. lighter and clock fuse is busted but the radio fuse is ok. Does the cig. lighter/clock fuse have anything to do with power to the radio?
Is there anything that needs to be checked on this year CRX, it has about 134,000 miles and I just plan on driving it to and from work.
Thanks.

hey man how are ya? Glad to have you here. My speedo calbe makes this wicked annoying sound sometimes. Is the noise you are hearing relative to the engine speed or the speed of the car. If it is engine speed then it is most likley your timing, but if it is relative to the speed of your car, which it sounds like it is, then it probably is your speedo cable.

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes it appears to be relative to the car's speed. Because if I am cruising along at say 50mph and I can hear the noise, if I push in the clutch well the noise is still there so that should eliminate it being related to engine speed.
Is it hard to fix this (if that is my problem)?

Sounds like the gears in your speedometer are stripped. I had a Ford Festiva that would do the same thing. Try swapping out intrument clusters and see if that corrects the problem. =)

About your stereo fuse, if your lighter goes out, that should happen, where your stereo goes out. It happened to my last car. But if your using hte factory Honda stereo, get rid of it. They are the worst kinda factory stereos. Buy a new Explod, or a Kenwood cd player. Dont know if that helps...

Ironically Alpine and Clarion made the old stereo's for Honda's. They still make the changers.

Alpine still makes the factory JDM decks under the "Gathers" name. They also make the current navigation systems for Honda/Acura world wide. =)

The car actually has an older Alpine CD Deck, I think model 7280 or something like that. I'll probably replace it and the speakers to make my ride to work more enjoyable.
